Bahria University Islamabad Campus’ team had won 2nd prize in  the short commercial video category at Media Fest 2010 which was held at GIKI  and since the launch of the video, it has been making waves on the Facebook . The Bahria Team was given product “BATA” and it seems that they have successfully carved, not only a funny commercial video but a whole new super hero character – BATAMAN.

X-news! Bahria University faculty member M Ramzan has completed his Phd in Mathematics under the supervision of Professor Dr. M. Ayub, chairman of the department of mathematics, Quaid-i-Azam University. His title of Phd dissertation is “Application of Wiener-Hopf Technique in Diffraction Problems”.

M Ramzan worked on Wiener Hopf technique which is highly valuable in Diffraction theory. Work on Wiener Hopf technique has been Invigorated by him after a gap of more than a decade. M Ramzan presented high quality research papers in International Journels with impact factor varying from 0.88 to 4.735.

Bahria University has nominated M Ramzan for the “Izaz-e-FAzeelat” in research (Presidential Award) and President’s Medal for Technology,2010.

X-news! A Student complained against a teacher who was found smoking cigrattes in basement of Old Campus. Director Campus took serious notice of this matter ensuring that its not only the student who have to pay fine if he or she is found smoking inside the campus.

In today’s hockey match, which was played between Bahria University Islamabad Campus & Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Bahria defeated LUMS!  Bahria’s player Zubair scored two goals while Khalil and Atif score a goal each! Final score was 4 (bahria) – 1 (lums).

Bahria University has been performing extremely well in the current sports competition which is taking place at Lahore.

Bahria University Islamabad Campus held its “Freshmen Night” for the freshmen of Spring 2010 intake. Bahria’s past Freshmen Nights have been very attractive with catchy performances by artists, musicians, dress designers etc and all of this use to be organized by SRC’s Event Club (sometimes in collaboration with other student clubs). Students (new comers & oldies) use to wait in queues in front of Bahria auditorium for hours just to witness the dazzle of Freshmen Nights but this time freshmen gala was very different!

It was for the first time that Freshmen Night was NOT being arranged by SRC, it was being organized by (or rather un-organized) by the University authorities and it was for the first time that students, instead of waiting in long queues, were rushing out of auditorium! Spring 2010 Freshmen Night, according to students who attended the event, was “the biggest flop” of the year hitherto.

New comer boys who were suited in black and girls in pink were expecting a traditional warm Freshmen Night but they were shocked to find that D.D. Campus had only arranged screening of movie “3 Idiots” for them. The people who choose this movie should know that this movie has been seen by each and every student (even cleaner & gate keepers must have seen this movie!) and they were not going to watch it again! Students started to leave auditorium in the first 30 minutes. Students were extremely disappointed by this poor show of mismanagement and by this “poor” event they they didn’t stay back for the dinner either! According to students, Campus DD was seen stopping students and asking them to stay back for the dinner (students leaving free food? a very rare thing!).

The “changed” organizers of today’s Freshmen Night should learn from this mistake that “some things are better left unchanged” and “All Is NOT Well”!
