In a ceremony arranged by Student Resource Center,  Mr Umar Tarek was awarded the prestigious “Student Award of

Excellence” by the Director Bahria University Islamabad Campus Mr. Muhammad Ali on 26th Jan 2010.

The Program Officer SRC Ms. Kholah Dar conducted the ceremony which was attended by members of Music Society, Media Society, BACSAP, Events Society and by friends & well wishers of Umar Tarek, a.k.a UT.

Mr. Umar Tarek was the Chief Coordinator of Media Society and the only CC to retain his post for more than one year. UT, as he is known, has received many distinctions in the field of film making & editing. His recent work, a documentary on the Siachen soldiers, won an international award in Italy. He has also directed short commercials and has also directed a music video for “Qayaas” music band.

Mr. UT thanked the University for the award and Ms Kholah Dar for the ceremony. In his farewell note, he advised the students to focus on their potential and to be realistic in their aims and objectives.

Bahria University Islamabad Campus’ student resource center is looking for people with writing skills for its newsletter. Also, the Social Sciences department is looking for skilled writers. BACSAP is also hunting writers for a project too!

Bahria University students had “planned” to hold a peaceful protest and to wear black arm bands to condemn the recent suicide attacks in the International Islamic University but it seems that all the support that had gathered few days back has ebbed away! According to a poll, which was conducted on by the X-news, 95% students had agreed to wear black arm bands but only 10% were actually wearing them in the University today.

BACSAP had arranged hundreds of free arm band but their efforts too could not gather any support.

“Its The Time To Wake Up” poll has received 95% “YES” votes. Students of Bahria University Islamabad Campus are requested to wear black arm bands from Monday to condemn the suicide bombings at the International Islamic University.

Bahria University’s biggest student club- BACSAP has announced that it will provide free arm bands to 200 students. To collect black arm bands please contact BACSAP office on Monday, 26th October 2009 @ 10:00 am.

Bahrians’ Association of Computer Students And Professionals is hiring students with dynamic skills. BACSAP Chairman Salman Zafar told X-news that BACSAP is currently preparing for its annual event - Bits, Bytes & Colors ‘09 which is the biggest event at the Bahria University Islamabad. When asked about the date of the event, Mr. Salman refrained from giving any exact date but told X-news that Bits, Bytes & Colors ‘09 will “hit Uni” in October.
