Rector of Bahria University visited the library of Bahria University Islamabad Campus today. He was furious at the staff as the library records were not well maintained. The rector also asked a female student about the availibilty  of books in the library.

Library staff snatched cell phone of a student as it rang in the library. Student (from BBA 2) was fined and his phone taken away for some time. Student paid the fine but was furious at librarian who read TEXT messages without his permission!

Bahria University Islamabad Campus’ library staff are “disliked” by many students and students have been complaining about their rude attitude from time to time by administration has failed to take any action.

A gruop of students studying in the library’s discussion room were asked by the library staff to vacate it for the rector’s daughter! The students, who were working on their class project, had to abandon the work so that the rector’s daughter (who is not a Bahria University student) could study! Students were furious at the staff and the admin but there was nothing that they could do.

It has also been noticed that the “no cell use” policy is not applicable to faculty members & staff as they freely use their cell phones and library staff take no action!

Is this what they call equal opportunity?

A Software Engineering student from 4th semester protested against the library rule of not allowing “floor seating”. He told X-news team that there are only 60 chairs in the library for about 4000 regular Bahria University students. He also said that Bahria library staff is very unaffable and are not cooperative at all.

Bahria University is listed as one of the premier institutions of the capital. It is also highly ranked in terms of infra structure and facilities provided to students. Bahria has everything for students, well equipped labs, integrated LAN network, Wi-fi Internet, cosy cafe, central air conditioned campus but it really lags behind when it comes to library facilities. The authorities should take serious notice of the condition and should take necessary steps.
